The small town of Fruita provides generally quieter, more relaxing accommodation than Grand Junction, ten miles east, and the best of the limited selection of hotels is the Comfort Inn, a handsome, adobe style building on the west side of town near to exit 19 of I-70. The inn provides just about the closest accommodation to
Colorado National Monument, entrance to which is 2 miles south on Hwy 340. There are 66 comfortable, good sized rooms, all containing a microwave/microwave, and some with views of the red sandstone cliffs bordering the Colorado River, at the edge of the national monument. Leisure amenities are a pool, hot tub and sundeck. Free continental breakfast is served, and there are many restaurants a short walk away around the interstate exit.
