From the top of a small hill east of May Lake and Mount Hoffmann, the view extends south to Clouds Rest and Tenaya Lake, then eastwards over a forested valley towards many granite mountains. In the north, beyond a ridge extending from Tuolumne Peak, are the distant high summits that mark the northeast boundary of Yosemite National Park, and the edge of the Sierra Nevada.
