Baldwin is the largest and best of three sandy beaches on the west side of South Lake Tahoe - 4 miles from the town center along Highway 89. High mountains of the Desolation Wilderness rise just inland, most prominent being Rubicon Peak, the two Maggies Peaks and Mt Tallac, while the more distant summits of the Carson Range are visible to the south and east, on the far side of the lake.
