Another quiet, relaxing hotel in the countryside south of Novato, the Courtyard by Marriott is well placed for visitors to the Sonoma county wineries, the redwood-forested mountains of the Marin Peninsula, and the many attractions around San Francisco Bay. The 136 rooms have views over fields, woodland, and Highway 101 which runs past on the west side; also nearby are a couple of restaurants though most services are a mile north towards Novato town center. The main services at the Courtyard are a cafe (open for breakfast only), guest laundry, 24 hour convenience store, fitness center, hot tub and outdoor pool - the latter part of a sheltered garden area to the rear of the hotel.

Best Western Novato Oaks Inn is the top rated hotel in Novato, CA, and has a great location alongside US 101 in the countryside a few miles south of the town center but set back from the highway so escaping the noise of traffic. Many of the 107 large, well furnished rooms (on 3 floors) have fine views over the partly wooded hills either side of the freeway; all have a refrigerator and some contain a full kitchen. On the hillside at the rear of the hotel is a sizeable outdoor pool, patio area and spa, while indoor amenities include an elegant lobby complete with library, and a dining area where free breakfast is served. Guests may travel to local area businesses and shops using the hotel's complimentary shuttle service. The two main natural attractions in the area are Point Reyes National Seashore (30 miles) and Muir Woods National Monument (20 miles).

Recently taken over by the Econo Lodge chain, this small (47 room) motel has a nice quiet location next to a wooded hillside, right at the south edge of Novato along the US 101 frontage road. Rooms are split into several blocks, most with views over the surrounding countryside; some have balconies, and also available are suites featuring a kitchenette and extra sofa bed. Apart from the location and the comfortable rooms, the main attraction of the motel is the attached Sam's Roadhouse, a traditional old-style California diner. The Econo Lodge also has an outdoor pool, and provides free continental breakfast.
