The Best Western hotel in Mariposa has a wooded setting on the south edge of town, beside the CA 140/49 highway junction; many of the 77 rooms look out over the rolling foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The hotel has an outdoor pool, away from the road in a tree-lined corner, and is next to Mariposa Country Park which has tennis courts and footpaths. Free complimentary breakfast is served, and for other meals there are at least 6 restaurants in town, the closest (a Chinese) just across the road. The surrounding area has a history of gold mining, but the main attraction today is Yosemite Valley, 38 miles northeast along CA 140 - a bendy road that takes around an hour to drive.

Other amenities are a hot tub, spa, gift shop, free continental breakfast, free newspaper and wireless internet in all rooms. The hotel has several family suites with full kitchens. Yosemite National Park is an hour's drive to the north, reachable by public bus service.
