At 3537 Main St (south side), the Quality Inn Mammoth Lakes is a few blocks east of the town center and within a mile of most important sites in town. The Econo Lodge motel has a central location in Mammoth Lakes, at 3626 Main Street (CA 203), with most of its 32 rooms having views towards the forested hills that rise to the north. Within walking distance along Main St are a selection of shops & restaurants, the Mammoth Lakes Visitor Center, and Mammoth Luxury Outlets mall. The tree-lined inn has a small outdoor pool/hot tub, newsstand and dining area serving free continental breakfast. Rooms are on 2 floors, with exterior corridors, and most contain a microwave & refrigerator.

Offering some of the cheapest lodging in Mammoth Lakes, the Rodeway Inn Sierra Nevada has a relatively quiet setting in a neighborhood of trees, shops, restaurants and private residences along Old Mammoth Road, towards the east side of town. The place is large (156 rooms), quite old, and has a fair range of facilities, including an outdoor pool, tennis courts, sun deck, sauna and hot tub. Some larger rooms are available featuring a fireplace and mini kitchen. Free continental breakfast is provided to all guests.

On Main St just east of the center of Mammoth Lakes, the Motel 6 has a good reputation for clean, simple and affordable lodging, still with all the basic amenities (wi-fi, outdoor pool, laundry, cable TV, free coffee). Some rooms are available with microwave and refrigerator. The motel is shielded from the main road by a line of tall trees and so allows a quiet night's sleep; the national forest begins just to the north and there is a hiking trail one block away. Just down the street are several shops and restaurants, while the main shopping area in town is a mile south along Old Mammoth Road.
