Partially renovated in 2008 following its affiliation to the Choice Hotels group, Rodeway Inn Azusa provides a budget-priced overnight stop for east-west travelers on I-210 (the Foothill Freeway), which runs past one block south. Rooms (43 of them) are clean and reasonably large, some equipped with one or more of a microwave, coffee maker, balcony and ironing facilities. The motel has a pleasant outdoor pool in a walled garden, and it serves the familiar basic free continental breakfast. Approximately ten restaurants are within a few minutes walk, around the junctions of I-210, 1st St and San Gabriel Avenue; this latter road heads due north and reaches the edge of the San Gabriel Mountains after 4 miles, continuing past two scenic reservoirs and several trailheads.
