Auburn's Holiday Inn is a clean, modern hotel a few blocks north of the town center and 30 miles from Sacramento along I-80 - the inn is located at 120 Grass Valley Parkway (CA 49), beside exit 119B of the interstate. This part of town is mostly residential though just north are several large stores, while the surrounding hills, rivers, lakes and the national forest offer many recreational opportunities. The inn offers dining at its own restaurant/lounge (Marie Callanders), swimming in the outdoor pool, exercise at the health/fitness center, plus a range of facilities for business and events.

Like most hotels in Auburn, the Best Western Golden Key is near the northeast corner of town between junctions 121 and 122 of I-80 - a busy area of supermarkets and restaurants, all surrounded by the wooded hills of the Sierra Nevada foothills. The hotel has its own share of pine trees, lining the accommodation buildings and the gardens next to the outdoor pool & hot tub. Free continental breakfast is provided; for lunch and dinner there are 2 restaurants right next door. Downtown Auburn is 2 miles south along the interstate.

One block west of exit 121 of I-80, Comfort Inn Central is 2 miles from the historic Old Town district of Auburn, in a corridor of shops and restaurants either side of the interstate though with views east and west towards wooded hills, including the Auburn State Recreation Area which begins a short distance west. The main amenities at the inn are free continental breakfast, an outdoor pool and a fitness center.

The 76 clean and comfortable guest rooms at Quality Inn Auburn all contain a microwave & refrigerator, and are quiet since the hotel is built at the edge of a tree-lined residential area - at the northeast side of town, just off I-80, and 2 miles from the Old Town district. There are several restaurants adjacent, though free deluxe continental breakfast is provided by the hotel, plus free coffee all day. The Quality Inn has a sheltered outdoor pool, in a courtyard between the two accommodation blocks, and other amenities of a hot tub, business center and a small meeting room.
