Although small in area (15 square miles), Paradise Valley is home to some of the most luxurious residences in the Phoenix area, together with various resorts, golf courses and upscale retail outlets. The town is bordered by Scottsdale to the east and Phoenix to the west, and is delineated by three ranges of hills - Camelback Mountain along the south edge, Phoenix Mountains to the west and Mummy Mountain in the middle. This latter is privately owned, but the other two areas are open for hiking, offering unspoilt Sonoran Desert scenery right beside the urban neighborhood.
